Flower Painting

The Process

Flowers are energy, and have life. Each blossom is an individual and each painting is a portrait.

When using flowers as a subject I use a flower, not an image of a flower. Cameras only show one dimention they flatten and distort the physical charactistics and restrict observation of the entire subject.

Observation includes all angles and distances as well as the space they occupy. The color and spacial relationships inform the composition.

Only then can I understand the true nature of a flower.
